Did you hear the one about two men walking? One fell down, got back up and kept walking!
Pointless? Maybe. But it’s funny. Come on. Lighten up…otherwise you’ll get all religious and legalistic with me and that’s not my point. Read. Reason. Reject or Receive. Say that with me. Okay…now read this.
Many today are living their Christian lives in error. Jesus said this is because they do not know the Scriptures or the power of God. Paul said “to study to show yourself approved unto God that you might be a workman not ashamed, able to rightly divide the word of truth. Acts tells us that more noble believers search the Scriptures daily to see if what they are hearing is correct. Pastors and other church leaders have been saying the same for years, “Study the Bible.”
But many do not. Therefore we have the many schisms (denominations) in the “church” today. So, who am I to write and teach the truths I believe? Why not? I can, so I do. I even write this Blog (thanks for reading) so I can tell the world. What are you doing with what you believe? If you stopped today would it matter at all? I do this because I truly believe there is absolutely no hope to be found in this life or the next but in the truth that God has given us who will study to learn of His will and His ways.
The Gospel is the power (there’s that word again) of God unto salvation. To everyone who will believe it. Do you believe it? Okay. What difference does it make in your life right now? Many today are not sharing their faith because they have no confidence to do so. They have been praying, going to church, tithing and all else they know to do but it seems to no avail. Why? They err, not knowing the Scriptures or the power of God. That’s why! So, now what? I don’t know, you tell me. I just told you. Are you going to do anything about it? I mean, your knowledge of Scripture has to be developed by more than just reading or listening to your favorite preacher or devotional. So how are you “studying to show yourself approved?
Jesus came declaring the time is fulfilled. What was He saying? He is saying I am here and everything changes beginning right now. His next words, repent (change your belief/behavior). Whatever you were believing or doing before, stop it. Too many believe He meant stop drinking, smoking, dancing, going to movies, etc. That has only produced judgmental attitudes, summed up in the saying, “Don’t judge me just because I sin different than you.” How’s that been working for us? Instead of one body many members we mostly have many bodies with few members. That’s how that has been working for us!
But forget about US. How YOU doin’? Who says so? Who you been talking to? Are you living the life? How about holding forth the Word of Life? If not…GET A LIFE! You can you know. In fact it’s why Jesus came. So YOU could have life and have it more abundantly! Now out of your abundance, go give some away!
