The creator of any product is the best source of information for the purpose and proper use of their creation. The Bible is God’s Word for making known His plan and purpose for creating the heavens, the earth, the seas and all that is in them, including humanity.

Therefore, we believe the following are basic to our Christian faith based upon the Bible – the Word of God.

At IMPACT Church we believe and teach:

A. The Bible is the inspired word of God and is His truth without error.

Any supposed errors or inconsistencies are due to men reasoning without revelation from God..

2 Timothy 3:16-17 (New Century Version)- “All Scripture is given by God and is useful for teaching, for showing people what is wrong in their lives, for correcting faults, and for teaching how to live right. Using the Scriptures, the person who serves God will be capable, having all that is needed to do every good work.”

B. The Bible is spiritually discerned and learned.

The Bible cannot be read and understood as one would the writings of great philosophers. The Bible is not from the mind of man but spoken to men by the Spirit of God.

2 Peter 1:21 (New Century Version)- “ No prophecy ever came from what a person wanted to say, but people led by the Holy Spirit spoke words from God.”

1 Corinthians 2:14 (New Century Version)- “A person who does not have the Spirit does not accept the truths that come from the Spirit of God. That person thinks they are foolish and cannot understand them, because they can only be judged to be true by the Spirit.”

2. GOD

The Bible tells us God has no beginning or ending, that He is Creator and Sustainer of all things, that He is Spirit and He is life and love. In the Old Testament He chose to reveal Himself through His Law and Prophets. In the New Testament He has done so through His only begotten Son Jesus Christ. The Bible says that no man has seen God at any time. (John 1:18) Therefore man must have faith that God, although unseen, does exist and is Whom he says He is.

Hebrews 11:6 (New Century Version)- “Without faith no one can please God. Anyone who comes to God must believe that he is real and that he rewards those who truly want to find Him.”

Jesus declared that human understanding does not know Who He is. True revelation of Jesus and all that He is must come from God. (Matthew 16:17) To learn of Him some other way only leads to error. God has spoken concerning Jesus Christ:

A. He is God being human

John 1:1 (New Century Version)- “In the beginning there was the Word. The Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

Hebrews 1:8 (New Century Version)- “But God said this about His Son: ‘God, your throne will last forever and ever. You will rule your kingdom with fairness.’”

B. He is human being God

Romans 1:3 (New Century Version)- “The Good News is about God’s Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. As a man, he was born from the family of David. But through the Spirit of holiness he was appointed to be God’s Son with great power by rising from the dead.”

The Holy Spirit is God and should not be spoken of as “It” or an “influence.” He is God the Holy Spirit, and the Bible reveals Him as being distinct from the Father and the Son but is co-equal to them both. His work is to reveal God’s truth concerning sin, righteousness and judgment to the world and to reveal all truth God speaks to believers in Jesus Christ.

Acts 5:3-4 (New Century Version)- “Peter said, ‘Ananias, why did you let Satan rule your thoughts to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep for yourself part of the money you received for the land? It belonged to you. And even after you sold it, you could have used the money any way you wanted. Why did you think of doing this? You lied to God, not to us!”

John 16:7-13 (New Century Version)- “But I tell you the truth, it is better for you that I go away. When I go away, I will send the Helper to you. If I do not go away, the Helper will not come. When the Helper comes, he will prove to the people of the world the truth about sin, about being right with God, and about judgment. He will prove to them that sin is not believing in Me. He will prove to them that being right with God comes from my going to the Father and not being seen anymore. And the Helper will prove to them that judgment happened when the ruler of this world was judged.

I have many more things to say to you, but they are too much for you now. But when the Spirit of truth comes, He will lead you into all truth. He will not speak his own words, but he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is to come.”

5. SIN

Before Adam sinned, the world and mankind were perfect in every way, just as God intended. When sin came so did death and all its “fruit.” The Bible says, “For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” But some would say, “I wasn’t there, it’s not my fault. Why should I suffer for what someone else did?” Because you are human and all humans have their origin in Adam. Adam died, so all die in him. Death is accounted to you. There are two sides to sin…sin nature and sinful acts. Sinful acts do not keep a person from eternal life but sin nature does and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it. However, Jesus has done all that needs to be done about it. He became sin for you so you could become righteous through faith in Him. By the way, you were not there when Jesus died either but through your faith in Him, His life is accounted to you. Now sin no longer has dominion over you and you can choose to act out sin or righteousness. (1 John 2:1)

Romans 5:17-18 (New Century Version)- “One man sinned, and so death ruled all people because of that one man. But now those people who accept God’s full grace  and the great gift of being made right with him will surely have true life and rule through the one man, Jesus Christ.”
